The World Ageing Organization (WAO) has officially launched its global platform from its headquarters in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. WAO brings together governments, universities, international organizations, healthcare professionals, researchers, civil society and older persons themselves to develop innovative solutions for the challenges and opportunities of global ageing.
With the world's older population growing faster than ever — 1.4 billion people will be aged 60 or over by 2030 — WAO will work in line with the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021–2030) and the Sustainable Development Goals.
